The Partnership EJTN-CEPOL continues: Seminar on Joint Investigation Teams last week in Lyon

Monday, October 31, 2022

50 participants took part in the seminar on Joint Investigation Teams - Leadership that was organised at the French Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Police in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d’Or, overlooking Lyon. The seminar took place from 24 to 28 October 2022, under a benevolent French autumn sun.

EJTN funded the participation of 13 judges and prosecutors from different EU Member States in the workshop implemented in cooperation with the CEPOL and with the support of EUROJUST. The EJTN-contracted expert Piotr Radomski joined the team of experts in delivering interactive and practical sessions throughout the training

The seminar aimed to improve the use and effectiveness of Joint Investigation Teams by enhancing the competencies and deepen the understanding of law enforcement officers and judiciary on the set-up, functioning, management, funding and evaluation of Joint Investigation Teams. Thanks to the hands-on approach of the experts, participants developed leadership capacities in the context of Joint Investigation Teams.

Due to the partnership between CEPOL and EJTN, the seminar provided a platform for cooperation and information-exchange between magistrates and law enforcement officers at the EU level.

The Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Police was an excellent venue to foster this exchange where different viewpoints from the side of law enforcement met with those from the side of the judiciary, creating mutual understanding and trust and setting the pace for future collaborations.

EJTN would like to thank the experts Piotr Radomski, Slawomir Buczma, Christoph Grabowksi, Ursula Schmudermayer, Ioana Van Nieuwkerk, Sebastian Bley, Christophe Durand and Oscar Kreitals who organized a week filled with plenary lectures, workshops, interactive role-plays and an unfolding case study that shed light on all aspects of forming a Joint Investigation Team.

The Lyon seminar is part of a series of joint training activities EJTN-CEPOL, including seminars and a joint Exchange Programme between members of the judiciary and law enforcement officials, that aim to foster a greater cooperation and information-exchange between the judiciary and law enforcement officers at the EU level.
