The European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) Linguistics portfolio is glad to announce the start of a new series of Online Conversation Classes.
The courses are offered to judges and prosecutors who already possess knowledge of a second language but wish to enlarge and advance their skills in legal language.
These one-hour classes will start in the week of 8 November 2021 and run through 17 December 2021. Over a series of six weekly webinars, expert instructors will engage participants in practical exercises and activities designed to improve their language skills. The predominant focus of the webinars will center on listening and speaking in the participants’ selected language.
Languages offered are English, French, Spanish, German and Italian.
Activities envisioned for the course webinars include authentic language usage via:
• Discussions focusing on legal cases and exchange of experiences among participants
• Practice of legal terminology in context
• Apply existing 2nd language skills in a professional context
After this pilot series, EJTN looks forward to launching the Online Conversation Class as a quarterly project in 2022, given the great interest in these classes.
