On 6 and 7 March 2021 the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers of the European Commission and the Portuguese Presidency held the online conference ‘Modernising EU justice systems by boosting training of justice professionals’. The objective of the event was to disseminate the new European judicial training strategy 2021-2024 and to present the Council conclusions ‘Boosting training of justice professionals’.
Commissioner Reynders, who opened the conference, wishes to ensure the commitment of all stakeholders to step-up the efforts in training justice professionals. Therefore, representatives from all judicial professions were invited to discuss and discuss the strategy’s new quantitative and qualitative priorities. EJTN was invited to send two delegates per member and one per observer.
EJTN contributed to several sessions and could touch upon important issues like the ‘Study on the Training Needs of Court Staff on EU Law in the EU’, good training needs assessment, and the future of judicial training. Delegates, who had also the opportunity for networking in different breakout room sessions, left inspired to take the next steps in implementing the European judicial training strategy.
