Calls for applications

The following calls for applications are currently open under the Exchange Programme. You will find below the detailed information for each call.

  • Short-term exchanges: 1 September 2022 – 14 October 2022
  • Bilateral exchanges (under project-based section): 1 September 2022 – 14 October 2022
  • Long-term training periods: 1 September 2022 – 14 October 2022
  • Judiciary Learning Grant Programme: 1 February – 1 December  2022

Prior to applying, please read carefully the Frequently Asked Questions and the Financial Conditions for information on the financial conditions governing the different activities.

Applicants are preselected by the EJTN Member and partner institutions in each Member State. Applications of preselected applicants are then sent to the EJTN secretariat who will proceed to their allocation according to the available places in the hosting institutions.

The application period for the Short-Term exchanges opens on 1st September 2022 under the Exchange Programme 2023. 

Deadline: 14 October 2022, 18:00 Brussels time (national deadlines may apply).

Main target group: Judges, Prosecutors, Court/Prosecution Staff and Judicial Trainers.

Learning objectives: Through a judicial exchange, each participant will observe, understand, compare and learn about the judicial environment of the host country and the implementation or references to Community instruments, the European Convention of Human Rights or the judicial cooperation instruments at the level of the host country.

How to apply?

The applications must be submitted on the Exchange Programme platform, section short-term exchanges. At the end of the application period, the national training institutions will make a pre-selection of the application, which will be then allocated by EJTN depending on the available places and demand.

The application period for the Bilateral exchanges opens on 1st September under the Exchange Programme 2023. 

Deadline: 14 October 2022, 18:00 Brussels time (national deadlines may apply).

Main target group: Judges, Prosecutors and Court/Prosecution Staff.

Learning objectives: In a bilateral exchange, groups of judges, prosecutors or court/proscuction staff from the same court or prosecution office spend one week in a court or prosecution office in another EU Member State to exchange experiences and best practices on a specific topic of common interest.

How to apply?

The applications and all accompanying documents must be submitted on the Exchange Programme platform, section project-based exchanges. The national training institutions will then make a pre-selection of the projects, which will be then allocated by EJTN depending on the available places and demand.

The application period for the Long-term training periods opens on 1st September 2022 under the Exchange Programme 2023. 

Deadline: 14 October 2022, 18:00 Brussels time (national deadlines may apply).

Main target group: Judges and Prosecutors.

Learning objectives: Organised on an individual basis for judges and prosecutors from different nationalities at the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and Eurojust, long-term traineeships allow for an in-depth immersion of the participants into the work of the host institution.

How to apply?

The applications and all accompanying documents must be submitted on the Exchange Programme platform, section long-term traning periods. At the end of the application period, the national training institutions will make a pre-selection of the application, which will be then submitted to the different institutions for selection.

The application period for the Judiciary Learning Grant Programme is now open under the Exchange Programme 2022. 

Deadline: 1 December 2022, 18:00 Brussels time (national deadlines may apply); Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the application period. Don't wait to apply! A particular consideration is given to early applicants.

Main target group: Judges, Prosecutors and Judicial Trainers.

Learning objectives: The Judiciary Learning Grant Programme allows EU Member State judges, prosecutors and judicial trainers the autonomy to self-identify and create individualised learning opportunities.

How to apply?

The applications and all accompanying documents must be submitted on the Exchange Programme platform, section project-based exchanges. The national training institutions will then make a pre-selection of the grant proposals to be submitted to EJTN. The applications must contain the following documents:
