Description:
The goal of this webinar under the offer of the EJTN Administrative Law Portfolio is to provide participants with knowledge and insight on the Long Term Residence Directive (2003/109).
The long-term residence Directive is arguably the most important piece of legislation concerning legal migration in the EU. It offers third-country nationals (TCN) who have regularly and continuously resided in a Member State with the possibility to obtain a long-term residence permit. Such permits offers equal treatment with nationals in a number of areas, strengthened protection from expulsion and the possibility to move and reside in any of the 25 Member States that have implemented the Directive (Ireland and Denmark not being bound by it). The directive has been subject to more than 20 rulings by the Court of Justice and, according to the European Commission there were more than 3 million TCNs who hold a long term residence permit by 2019.
Participants will devote their time to get introduced to the analysis of practical cases covering this topic.
