Legal basis for the organisation, structure and tasks of Deutsche Richterakademie (German Judical Academy) is the "Administrative Agreement on Deutsche Richterakademie" adopted by the German Federal Government and the Länder of the German Federal Government. Head of Deutsche Richterakademie is a Director residing in Trier.
Since 1973, the Deutsche Richterakademie has been offering interregional further training to judges from all branches of the justice system, as well as public prosecutors. It is financed jointly by the Federation and the Länder.
The object of the Academy is to provide further training for judges and public prosecutors in their specialist areas, as well as enhance their political, social, economic, academic and foreign language skills.
More than 150 further training events are organised each year at the training centers. The Academy employs 28 people at Trier and 29 at Wustrau.
