- EJTN’s Steering Committee met for its fourth 2018 meeting in the European Capital of Culture 2018.
- EJTN’s statutory bodies and governance structure promote internal democracy, stimulate cooperation and provide for a sound future of the EJTN Network.
EJTN’s Steering Committee met on 27 and 28 September to continue its important work of running the EJTN Network. The meeting, kindly hosted by EJTN Member organisation Studiecentrum Rechtspleging (SSR), took place in Leeuwarden-Friesland, The Netherlands, which is the European Capital of Culture 2018.
There was great significance of the meeting’s location in the European Capital of Culture. Each year the EU bestows this accolade on a European city, which goes on to organise cultural events with a pan-European dimension and gain significant cultural, social and economic benefits in the process. In Leeuwarden-Friesland, the city has boldly embraced diversity, courage, creativity and imagination in order to bring about positive change and greater openness.
Inspired by the spirit and activities of Leeuwarden-Friesland, the EJTN Steering Committee gathered in the city for its most recent meeting.
For this fourth Steering Committee meeting of 2018, the primary focus was on two particularly important upcoming issues. Discussions continued on the preparations of EJTN’s Strategic Plan 2021–2027, which will frame this Network’s future orientations, goals, relations with its actors as well as outlines its planned activities.
The meeting also addressed another topic of importance, namely the upcoming Directors’ Conference, which will be held 24 and 25 October in Vienna. The conference takes a unique approach as it brings together the directors of EJTN’s Member organisations, EJTN Working Group representatives and EU institutional delegates, including from the European Commission. Keynote addresses, panel discussions, plenary debates and multiple hands-on workshops are all offered at the annual high-level conference.
EJTN is proud of the fact that its statutory bodies and governance structure, including the important Steering Committee, embrace internal democracy, cooperation, change and openness in order to provide for a sound future of the EJTN Network.
