  • An interactive two-day long seminar, entitled Service of Documents & Taking of Evidence Abroad, was held in Barcelona

Even during the summer months, EJTN is busy planning and implementing training seminars and other events for the benefit of Europe’s judiciary.

In July, a two-day long seminar, entitled Service of Documents & Taking of Evidence Abroad, was held in Barcelona at EJTN’s Member institution, The Spanish Judicial School.

The seminar achieved several key aims. The awareness of the European dimension of the field of civil procedure was highlighted and training on EU regulations, taking in relevant case law on the cross-border taking of evidence and service of documents, was also provided. Finally, the seminar provided an ideal opportunity to promote contacts between national judges from different EU Member States.

The seminar was designed to be practice-oriented and focused on peer and expert training. The participating judges dealt with with concrete situations and considered actual pertinent questions by examining case studies and participating in hands-on workshops, both of which stimulated active participation.
