This conference is aimed at judges from all jurisdictions as well as at public prosecutors. It will provide an overview of the international norms and instruments in the field of human rights, and also illustrate the judicial role of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). The relevance of the ECHR’s judgments (and other instruments) for legal practice and German legislation will be explored through interactive case studies and in consideration of decisions issued by the Federal Constitutional Court. All the case studies will be based on real-life cases that have appeared before the German courts, and will cover various areas such as family law, criminal law, asylum law, social law or civil law.In addition to case studies, there will be lectures, discussions and an opportunity to share experiences, as well as a visit to the ECHR in Strasbourg. This conference is also offered as part of the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN).
