Course Description

Background:
Although the judiciary was only opened to women in 1946 (although the bar was opened in 1900), there has been a massive feminisation of the profession in recent years. A great deal of research has been carried out into the characteristics of this trend, particularly involving comparative approaches.

Approach:
This course will take the feminisation of the judiciary in France as its starting point. Other questions will then be addressed: how should this transformation be seen? How widespread is it? How does it compare with other legal professions and other states?
