Apart from deciding or settling a case, a judge can refer a case to mediation. Referral to mediation is a professional skill. This course provides the participants with knowledge regarding the role of the judge in effective conflict resolution. They will be informed about the criteria that play a role when determining which of these three options to choose in a civil case. After the course, the participants will be able to give a motivated decision to parties when they decide to refer a case to mediation
Practical case studies, based on the experiences of the participants, will be drafted for the course.
