Course Description

The conference is targeted at judges from all jurisdictions, as well as at public prosecutors.
One focus of the conference will be on psychological reflections on the forms of creation and types of aggression. The causes of violence will also be presented from a medical, psychiatric and sociological perspective. The conference plans to take stock of the violence in our society; it will address both offenders and victims, the perspectives of combating and preventing violence, therapy options for violent offenders and decisions with regard to prognosis. One portion of the conference will be dedicated to the issue of criminal responsibility for violent offences from the psychiatric perspective. Using examples, current forms of manifestation, such as domestic violence, aggression in automobile traffic and in schools, right-wing extremist violence and terrorism will be discussed. Participants will also examine the question of media influence on the creation and manifestation of violent actions.
