Course Description
Background:
An increasing number of legal disputes contain an international element, whether concerning the status of persons, family law, contractual law or civil liability and require more and more frequently that judges address the issue of their jurisdiction or the governing law.
At the same time, international legal instruments are proliferating, including bilateral, international, community and European standards, European and community jurisprudence, and internal rules on conflicts of law.
The session's objective is to address the various areas arising from conflicts of law and to give judges reference points that will facilitate their search for appropriate solutions to the situations submitted to them.
