The conference is targeted at judges in civil law jurisdictions.
It aims to increase awareness of European law issues by providing basic knowledge. Fundamental issues of European law will be followed by explanations of the concrete effect of European law on German private law. Going beyond this, European consumer protection law will also be discussed, as will European civil procedural law and the law of conflicts. The preliminary ruling procedure, which is of particular relevance for national judges, will be presented and subsequently practiced in a workshop. An overview of current case law of the European Court of Justice will be presented within the framework of a visit to the ECJ in Luxembourg.
